October 28th, 2022 Conference at ANU CES “The Russian World against Australia and its region” was a fantastic experience for Svoboda Alliance AU&NZ.
Several speakers from our organisation along with prominent scientists and sociologists presented ten talks about the most important aspects of Russian propaganda in Australia, discussed the ways to resist, and also spoke about our role as a community during these hard times.
We would like to say our warmest thank you to Kasia Williams and ANU CES staff, all presenters, and all people who came to listen to our talks. We were really excited to see people from DFAT, Home Affairs, and some diplomatic missions.
We look forward for the next conference!
Talks and presentations by Svoboda Alliance AU&NZ
Originally from Perth, WA, I now live in Christchurch NZ. As a high school student in the 1960s, I had a Russian classmate and met her refugee family. This contact continued until 2014, when she told me I was a Nazi for supporting Ukraine. In 2018, I finally got to travel across Russia and saw the huge gulf between living conditions in the remote villages and Moscow. On my last evening in St Petersburg, I was questioned by a man from the FSB.
During my journey, I visited several ethnographic and historical museums, seeing that Russia had invede many north Asian homelands. No comment was ever made about the human cost of this territorial expansion.
